AACR GENERAL MEETING
GABRIEL GOLTZ, our guest speaker, will present the topic of "implicit bias." He is currently the Program Manager of the Education Programs Unit in the Arizona Administrative Office of the Court’s (AOC) Education Services Division. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Arts in the same from the University of Colorado—Boulder, Gabe has taught and researched extensively in the areas of political philosophy and ethics, American government, constitutional law, feminism, bias and the politics of difference, politics and literature, and congressional behavior. Since originally joining the AOC in December 2005 as an Educational Specialist in the Court Leadership Institute of Arizona unit, Gabe has developed and taught courses in areas including adult education and theory, diversity-related topics, the Bill of Rights, and Purposes and Responsibilities of Courts (for which he is a nationally-certified faculty member through the National Center for State Courts’ Institute for Court Management). In 2012 Gabe received the Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET) “COJET Excellence in Education Award” and in 2017 received “Manager/Officer Award” from the Arizona Supreme Court. Prior to joining the AOC, Gabe worked in the Graduate College at Arizona State University, coordinating graduate academic program development as well as briefly serving as a part time professor in American government at the University of Advancing Technology.
